This project produced a digital critical edition of Soledades by Luis de Góngora, combining traditional philological methods with digital technologies. The edition was developed in two phases: the first involved the textual collation and critical establishment of the poem based on 21 manuscripts and prints; the second focused on encoding the edition in XML/TEI and publishing it using the open-source tool Edition Visualization Technology (EVT).
The edition highlights significant authorial variants—some unpublished before—identified through the study of the manuscript 2056 (Biblioteca de Catalunya). It allows users to interactively explore the critical text, compare variant readings, and evaluate editorial decisions.
This scholarly resource exemplifies a “paradigmatic digital edition,” where a single TEI file dynamically generates multiple textual views. It is openly accessible online and demonstrates how minimal computing and open infrastructures can support high-quality textual scholarship even in the absence of dedicated funding.
